Ask about capacity (seated vs standing), catering options (in-house or outside caterers), bar service, setup and teardown time, parking, accessibility, noise restrictions, decor limitations, and what is included in the rental fee. Get everything in writing.

Many venues require you to spend a minimum amount on food and drinks instead of charging a flat rental fee. For example, a $5,000 F&B minimum means your catering and bar tab must reach $5,000. If you do not meet the minimum, you pay the difference. This is common at restaurants and hotels.

In-house catering is simpler — one point of contact, less coordination. Outside catering gives you more menu flexibility and sometimes lower costs. Some venues require in-house catering. If you want a specific caterer, confirm the venue allows outside catering before booking.

A venue rental gives you the space only — you arrange catering, decor, entertainment separately. An all-inclusive package bundles venue, catering, bar, linens, and sometimes a coordinator. All-inclusive is simpler but less flexible. Compare the total cost of both options.
